ruffeLatin name: Gymnocephalus cernua

The Ruffe is similar in appearance to the Perch, but with a drab colouring in comparison to the bold stripes of the Perch.

Ruffe do not grow to a large size, and although they are quite widespread they do not exist in large numbers and are not regularly encountered by most Anglers.

Baits
Maggots and small worms will catch Ruffe.

Tactics
Ruffe are not usually deliberately targeted by Anglers but where they are present they will be taken by most float fishing and legering methods while fishing for a mixed bag.
